Dr. Nickola Pallin

Nickola is currently a project manager on the CanWork project. Nickola graduated from Radiation Therapy in Trinity College Dublin in 2012 and has a MSc in Diet, Nutrition and Health. Nickola was a PhD scholar on the SPHeRE programme in population health, policy and health-services research. As part of her doctoral research, Nickola examined how to improve the implementation of self-management support in cancer survivorship care.

Before starting her PhD in 2020 she held a lecturer position in the School of Allied and Community Health, London South Bank University where she taught on the BSc (Hons) and MSc. Therapeutic Radiography programmes. Prior to this she worked in acute oncology services in Ireland and the UK as a Radiation Therapist. In 2017 she was awarded a Cancer Research UK pre-doctoral fellowship where she was based in the Department of Behavioural Science and Health in University College London. This research investigated the barriers and enablers among radiographers in delivering health behaviour advice to those living with and beyond cancer. During this fellowship, she was also awarded a College of Radiographers Industrial Partnership Scheme Grant to explore radiographers’ experiences of e-learning as a strategy to support delivery of brief health behaviour advice to cancer patients. Nickola’s research interests include self-management support, cancer survivorship and implementation science.
